A Message from Principal Lucas

Greetings Proud Lions,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year.  As usual, I am eager to connect with you, grow with you, and welcome you warmly.  My heart is complete as we all come back together for another successful school year.

I have had the honor to be your proud Principal for a little over four years and it is an honor to serve our expansive community of multilingual scholars, extraordinary parents, and committed faculty.  We have experienced tremendous success together and we will continue to do just that! Our kids are in loving, nurturing, and competent hands within our 143 village and it makes me endlessly proud!  The collective dedication to our children is valued and I am so delighted that you are part of our amazing community. I encourage you to CONTINUE always reaching out to me because your voice is valued.  Your candid feedback is precious to me and it drives my next steps always.

I am looking forward to greeting all of our students with open arms as they prepare to learn, laugh, and thrive this year!  Your child is not only your most prized possession BUT they are mine as well.  Their safety, well-being, academic, emotional, and social development will always remain my number one priority.  I am incredibly honored and proud to serve the best students in the city and my commitment to all of our children is unwavering.

There is something else I want you to know.  Not only do we have fantastic students and parents BUT I am incredibly proud of the devoted and skilled faculty P.S. 143 is comprised of.    We are indeed a joyous and caring community with common goals of nurturing responsible, caring students and promoting high-level learning.

During challenging times and times of uncertainty, please always reach out to me, your child’s teacher, or our supportive village with any questions.  If you need a translator, we are happy to accommodate you and your family.  We have a translation line to call, staff members who speak multiple languages on site, and several other options for us to effectively communicate with one another.

I know we will create a wonderful school year where all children can succeed, feel comfortable, and be as safe as possible in our care.  It is an honor and a privilege to serve you and I am always available to you.  Please continue leaning on me.

My best,

Justine Lucas
