Physical activity is a vital component in all of our lives. At the Louis Armstrong Elementary School, we work to ensure that all athletic and physical education programs are designed to develop scholars physically, socially, and emotionally. Teamwork, perseverance, resilience and sportsmanship are emphasized in all games lessons and activities. Our experienced educators are passionate about helping students discover the joy and benefits of lifelong fitness.

Extra-Curricular activities offer opportunities for our scholars to learn the values of teamwork, individual and group responsibility. It also promotes endurance, healthy competition, celebration of diversity and inclusivity, along with promoting a school culture and a sense of community building.
These activities, offered outside of the instructional program time, provide a channel for reinforcing the lessons learned in the classroom, while affording students the opportunity to apply academic and social skills in a real-world context, ultimately setting them up for middle school, and contributing to a well-rounded education. Our current extra-curricular activities include:
- Beautiful Me
- Bike Builders STEM Program
- Boy Scouts
- CASA (Cultural After-school Adventures) Arts Program
- Chess Club
- Student Lighthouse
- Inside Broadway - Theatre Program for Students
- Ballroom Dance
- Girls Who Code
