Student Technology Usage and Support

Since 2020, the implementation of technology in the classroom has changed the way students learn and access information. Students now have the world at their fingertips. At PS143 we are proud to provide each of our scholars an iPad to use in the classroom. Each classroom has a 1:1 iPad to student ratio which is an incredible advantage for our students.

NYCDOE issued iPads:

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, the New York City Department of Education issued thousands of iPads to students in need to access their education while working remote. As we have transitioned back to the classroom, iPads are still being offered to students. All new admits to the NYCDOE are eligible for iPads, if your child is in need of an iPad. please contact your child's teacher. Be mindful, this is not a quick process and can take several months. As of July 1 2023, all NYCDOE issued iPads have had cellular service removed, they are only able to access internet via Wi-Fi.

Device Returns

Devices Must Be Returned

If you are leaving the NYCDOE for a non-DOE school, including a Charter School, private school or a school out of New York City, or the state, all NYCDOE issued devices, including iPads must be returned. In the case of a return, please clearly label your child's device with their first and last name, class and return all chargers and cases.

Please bring all returned devices to either Ms Reyes or Ms Cuesta in the Main Office Room 134 to ensure they are properly turned in. Do not leave at the Security Desk or send in with your child

Devices are Kept:

If you are graduating PS143 or transferring to another public school in the NYCDOE, your iPad travels with you. Once your child is discharged and enrolled in their new school, the iPad will enroll in the new school's server and become part of that schools inventory.
